A young man asked his zen-master “Master, how long will it take me to achieve liberation?”
“Maybe ten years”, his master answered.
“And when I try hard, how long will it take then?”, the student asks.
“Then it can take around 20 years”, the master answered.
“I will really endure every hardship. I want to reach my goal the fastest way possible”, the young man affirmed.
“Then”, the master reflected, “it can take up to forty years.”
